Meet Dr. John D. Peacock

Dr. Peacock

As these 35 years have passed by, I more clearly see that dentistry is not as much a job or profession, but it really is a ministry for me. Patients have become family in a very real way. I have watched patients trust me with their children, and now their children have grown and trust me with their children. To be entrusted with the care of a great percentage of these people into the third generation is truly a blessing. It is a reward that is not measurable by money or success. I look forward to being available to continue that service for several more years as the Lord blesses me with health to do so.

Education

I received my bachelor of science degree in Biology at North Georgia College and State University in 1969. I continued on to Emory University School of Dentistry where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1973. I also served in the United States Navy as a dentist from 1973 to 1975.

Continuing Education

I take continuing education courses at various times during the year in local and national venues. All of these opportunities allow me to meet and exceed the requirements of the State Licensing Boards for my credentialing, but most importantly provides me the knowledge to be the best dentist I can possibly be to take care of my wonderful patients who allow me the privilege of caring for them.

Professional Memberships

In the Community

My greatest involvement in this area centers on my church. I teach a men’s Bible study class and serve on several committees there. I am involved in missions by being active in medical and dental projects both in the community and overseas. I serve on the board of the Georgia Baptist Mobile Health Unit and work on it doing various projects as the unit is in our area of the state. I have long been involved in organizing and participating in meeting the needs of the underprivileged in the community, participating in health fairs, going to schools to teach dental health, and contributing time and money to other events meeting other community needs unrelated to dentistry.

Outside the Office

I was born and raised in Macon, Ga., where I lived until going to college in 1965. We lived in Woodstock, Ga., from 1975 until 2003 before moving to Canton, Ga., where I now reside with my wife. I have been blessed with three children, Trent, Amber, and Haley, who are all grown and have their own families. It is such a joy to be a grandparent, and we have seven grandchildren with one more on the way. My wife, Linda, and I are celebrating our 40th anniversary in June of 2010. I am overwhelmed at the goodness of God to give me such a wonderful wife to spend my life with.

I love the outdoors and fill my leisure time pursuing fishing, hunting, golf, gardening, and just being out on my tractor bushoging or moving dirt with the front end loader. My wife and I also love to travel. Our grandchildren are our newest, most time-consuming, ever evolving, fun thing to do and we are loving that part of our lives.
